TEX Contamination: Thank-you letter regarding No Further Action designation at a BOS 200® cleanup site in Kentucky.

TEX Contamination
Contaminant: TEX
Site type: Active manufacturing company
Location: Kentucky
Product: BOS 200®
A UST tank storing waste solvents, paints, stains, and lacquers leaked TEX into the surrounding soils and groundwater. Prior to treatment, LNAPL (free-product) was detected under the building. An NFA was granted on October 18, 2006.

Benzene Contamination
Contaminant: Benzene
Site type: Tank battery
Location: Weld County, CO
Product: BOS 200®
BOS 200® was injected at this site to combat a product release. In just four weeks, the contaminant level was reduced to below groundwater standard in all wells. An NFA was granted in June 2005 after a year of monitoring.

TCE Contamination
Contaminant: TCE
Site type: Former manufacturing plant
Location: Colorado
Product: BOS 100®
This large TCE plume was broken up into a north half and south half in accord with division of the property itself due to the sale of the north portion. The north parcel was to be redeveloped for residential use and therefore, groundwater everywhere across this parcel had to meet drinking water standards. As a result, TCE could not exceed 5 ppb anywhere on the parcel to achieve closure. As shown in the case study, an NFA was obtained after just 4 quarters of monitoring.

TEPH Contamination
Contaminant: TEPH
Site type: Petroleum release site
Location: Golden, CO

Product: BOS 200®
Small petroleum surface spills caused residual soil contamination. To bring the soil standards up to Colorado’s standards of 500 ppm, the site was treated with BOS 200® in April 2004. In August, the site was submitted to the state for closure; an NFA letter was sent in October 2004.

*This is a representative list of NFAs garnered by the Trap & Treat® approach.

BTEX Contamination – Former Gas Station
Contaminant: BTEX/MTBE
Site type: Former Gas Station
Location: Colorado
Product: BOS 200®
The client notes that “The data shows that the BOS 200® injections worked very well, even on the chlorinated solvents [comingling from an upgradient dry cleaner source.” An NFA will be requested in 2015 once post-injection monitoring requirements have been fulfilled.

Benzene Contamination – Gas Station Spill Response
Contaminant: Benzene
Site type: Gas Station Spill
Location: Oregon
Product: BOS 200®
Compliance with the ODEQ cleanup targets was attained immediately following injection using BOS-200.

Benzene Contamination – Rental Car Gas Station
Contaminant: Benzene
Site type: Former Rental Car Gas Station
Location: Wyoming
Product: BOS 200®
Precision remediation techniques created quick remediation results.

Benzene Contamination – Retail Gas Station
Contaminant: Benzene
Site type: Active Sinclair retail gas station
Location: Kentucky
Product: BOS 200®
The active retail gas station site experienced reduction of benzene levels to a non-detect status in record time.

Condensate Contamination
Contaminant: Condensate
Site type: NG Wellhead – Tank Battery
Location: Colorado
Product: BOS 200®
A condensate release at this site caused LNAPL to impact a nearby river. In order to protect the river, BOS 200® was installed in a series of trenches designed to sequentially reduce LNAPL and dissolved BTEX contaminants to Colorado State standards. Once the system achieved steady state operation, benzene concentration was reduced to below 5 ppb at the down gradient side of the fourth barrier.

Condensate-1 Contamination
Contaminant: Condensate
Site type: Natural gas compressor site
Location: Eastern Colorado
Product: BOS 200®
A release of concentrate impacted groundwater near the site Dehy building.

Condensate-2 Contamination
Contaminant: Condensate
Site type: Active natural gas compressor site
Location: Eastern Colorado
Product: BOS 200®
A condensate release impacted soil and surrounding groundwater. LNAPL (free-product) was observed next to the Dehy building prior to treatment.

Benzene/TPH Contamination – Truck Stop
Contaminant: Benzene/TPH
Site type: Truck stop
Location: Wyoming
Product: BOS 200®
Pre-treatment, the truck stop had groundwater Benzene levels of low to 1200 ug/L and TPH figures of low to 18,000 ug/L in groundwater and up to 7900 mg/kg in soil. After BOS 200® treatment and monitoring for several months, the site has filed with the state for closure.

Benzene/TPH Contamination – Convenience Store
Contaminant: Benzene/TPH
Site type: Convenience store
Location: Wyoming
Product: BOS 200®
Groundwater benzene levels were up to 26,000 ug/L and groundwater TPH levels of up to 14,400 ug/L. After treatment, only one monitoring level (GRO) in one well (M-7) remains above standard. Further monitoring will be conducted before applying for site closure.

BTEX Contamination – Colorado
Contaminant: BTEX
Site type: Former gas station
Location: Colorado
Product: BOS 200®
Former gas station had residual, low-level contamination that seemed determined to stick around…until it was polished off by an injection of BOS 200®.

BTEX Contamination – Kentucky
Contaminant: BTEX
Site type: Former gas station
Location: Kentucky
Product: BOS 200®
Former gas station experienced dramatic results within three weeks following injection of BOS 200®.

TPH Contamination
Contaminant: TPH
Site type: Lingle School
Location: Wyoming
Product: BOS 200®
Benzene groundwater levels were greater than 5 ug/L and TPH groundwater levels of 30-130 mg/L with TPH soil levels of 200-800 mg/kg before treatment with BOS 200®. The site was closed after treatment.
