Colloidal Cowboy

Colloidal Cowboy

Whoopie Ti Yi Yo, bacteria are too large to inhabit colloidal carbon. Colloidal-sized activated carbon lacks significant surface fractures and macropores because those features are removed by the milling to reach 1-2 µm in size. Bacteria range in size from approximately 1 to 2 microns in diameter and 5 to 10 microns long. The microbial cowboy can’t reside in colloidal carbon, perhaps he rides that little pony.

Bacteria can and do inhabit the fractures and macropores of BOS 200®, BOS 200+®, and CAT 100. Large fractures and macropores are crucial to building a persistent, efficient platform for biological degradation.
