Chlorinated VOCS

Chlorinated Solvent Remediation

Chlorinated solvents such as perchloroethylene (PCE), trichloroethylene (TCE), dichloroethylene (DCE), and vinyl chloride (VC) are among the most persistent and challenging contaminants in soil and groundwater. They threaten drinking water supplies, create regulatory and liability headaches, and can linger for decades if not properly addressed.

At Remediation Products, Inc., we specialize in in situ chlorinated solvent treatment. Our advanced solutions tackle contamination underground where it sits, providing exceptional longevity that outlasts competing products and processes. Our technologies either eliminate or control daughter product formation while degrading a broader range of contaminants.

Why Chlorinated Solvents Are a Challenge

Chlorinated solvent contamination solutions must address the unique risks and regulatory demands associated with these compounds:

  • Environmental risk: Chlorinated solvents migrate easily through soil and groundwater, contaminating large areas and complicating cleanup.
  • Health concerns: Long-term exposure is linked to cancer, neurological damage and other serious health effects.
  • Regulatory pressure: These compounds require fast, effective, and efficient remediation.
  • Incomplete traditional treatments: Many conventional methods leave residual contamination, allowing problems to resurface and increasing long-term costs.

Our Proven Approach to Chlorinated Solvent Remediation

RPI® uses a combination of advanced treatment products and precision installation techniques to permanently break down chlorinated solvents. By adsorbing contaminants into activated carbon and having elemental iron integral in the carbon matrix, the contaminant is co-located with the iron that breaks down the contaminant. Additionally, the reaction is bolstered by specialized treatment chemistry and microbiology that recharges the iron for longevity to deliver complete, compliant cleanup without creating secondary pollutants.

RPI®’s Turnkey Chlorinated Solvent Remediation Services

Our process is precise, thorough, and tailored to your site. Here’s how it works:

  • Site characterization: We conduct remedial design characterization (RDC) sampling to map contamination in detail.
  • Custom treatment design: quantitative High-resolution site characterization (qHRSC) helps us visualize contaminant distribution and migration pathways, allowing us to plan the most effective product mix and injection strategy.
  • Targeted injection: RPI-approved contractors inject products directly into the contamination zone to accelerate project timelines.
  • Ongoing testing: Our partners conduct performance monitoring throughout the remediation process and follow up with post-installation testing to confirm contaminant breakdown and verify long-term site safety. Samples may be sent to the RPI laboratory and analyzed for free from site characterization to site closure.
